The free software I use
There's really nothing quite like having something for free in this cash-strapped commercialized world we live in. And so while I may be trolling the web for the things I want to use, here's a handy list for your perusal. And yes, I actually use these, and none of these are bundled with adware or spyware.
WordConvs 1.0
What it does: I wanted software that would batch convert doc files to text files, and CZ-Doc2Txt only allows conversion of two files at a time and Convert Doc only allows up to 250 files. In comes WordConvs, which allows you to batch convert doc files without any restrictions. Also performs conversion to and from doc, txt, rtf, wps, and dot.

Shuangs wav to mp3 Converter
What it does: It's surprising how hard it is to find a decent freeware wav to mp3 converter, but this one does it really well. What I've also noted is that if there is one software that they provide, all the other ones are good as well. Ad supported, I think, but no adware.
Download
iColorFolder
What it does: The best thing about iColorFolder is that it allows you to quickly identify important folders by allowing you to change its color. It's integrated into the shell and changes take place immediately.

mp3 Direct Cut
What it does: It allows you to cut, fade in and fade out on your mp3 file. Perfect for slicing that audio file that's too long, or tweaking it up just a tad bit

HotKey Control XP
What it does: Indispensable for the multitasker, it lets you set 'hot key' combinations that allow you to swiftly open folders and directories, windows and more.

YouTube to mp3 Converter
What it does: Ever saw something or listened to it on YouTube and searched for it in vain elsewhere? Now you can put it all on your mp3 player.
Download
DietMP3
What it does: It compresses your mp3 files even further while retaining, remarkably, the audio quality. You're limited to fifteen uses, however, before requiring a purchase.
